Rate Changes and Holiday Hours

Hello, everyone!

I want to start this blog by thanking all the authors and clients I work with for all of their support and continued business. This year has been the best year yet for Aero Gallerie, and it’s all because of you, the authors! Being able to design for you is one of the greatest pleasures of my life, and every cover I do brings me so much happiness and fulfillment. In the years ahead, I am very optimistic that Aero Gallerie will continue to grow and become even better.

When I started this business 3 years ago, I had no portfolio to call my own. I had worked for another book cover design company for several years prior, but was not able to use that work to advertise my skills as a designer. As a result, I kept my prices low–lower than most of my competitors–to build up that portfolio of work. As Aero Gallerie has grown, so have the expenses! Before, it was as simple as having an account for stock images and a website payment. Now we’re finding monthly expenses for our software and bookkeeping! It’s been amazing to see a dream of mine grow to this point.

Effective on January 1st, 2018, Aero Gallerie will be increasing its rates on book cover packages. It is my wish to keep prices as low as possible for my clients–after all, everyone likes to save a little money where they can, and for an author, costs for editing, formatting, and cover design can all eat away at the bottom line of a person’s sales. But it is my belief that this change in pricing will allow me to grow and find awesome new services to bring to you.

Updated Pricing (Effective January 1, 2018):

E-Book Cover

$ 300

  • Custom designed book cover, created to your specifications.
  • Includes finished images for application on Amazon, B&N, etc.

E-Book/Print ComboBest Value!

$ 400

  • Finished e-book images for Amazon, B&N, etc. and for promotional purposes.
  • Internal title page for your interior formatting.
  • CreateSpace print layout, ready for submission!

Misc. Graphics

$ 50*

  • Includes projects such as business cards, advertisements, Facebook graphics, bookmarks, etc.
  • Special projects may subject to a $30/hr artwork charge.

All clients who have already scheduled work will be grandfathered into the old pricing. Anything scheduled AFTER January 1st will be subject to the new pricing. I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have questions, please feel free to e-mail me at kerry@aerogallerie.com.

Secondly, as many of you know, the holiday season is upon us. Because of the hustle and bustle of the holidays, traveling, etc., Aero Gallerie will be taking a brief holiday hiatus beginning on December 22nd and returning on January 2nd. There will be no new projects scheduled during this time. However, if you have a cover project in progress during this time, you can still expect to receive minor revisions through the duration of the hiatus. I’ll also be responding to e-mails as usual!

Thank you all so very very much again. This year has not been without its challenges, but I am certain that even greater things are on the horizon.

New year, new site, new features!

Happy New Year, everyone!

So 2016 is here, a brand new fresh start. A lot happened in 2015 that I am just so thankful for, because it sets the stage for good things in the coming year.

2015 was the year I decided to start up Hynds Studio. But taking the plunge to starting your own business certainly isn’t an easy decision! I can’t tell you how many months I spent pacing back and forth, feeling energized to start something new yet being utterly terrified of all the small details of running a design studio. But sometimes you just have to jump and take the plunge. Do what you love, and all the other pieces will fall into place.

I’ve felt truly lucky to meet so many wonderful authors with such vibrant personalities and stories, and I am so excited to see what 2016 brings.

But what is New Year’s without some RESOLUTIONS?

So without further adieu, let’s talk about some of the things you might expect to see from Hynds Studio in the coming year!

We’re going to be making a concentrated effort to be a little more active on our blog in 2016. The goal is to provide some insight into books (and their covers!) from a design perspective–this helps indie authors keep their finger on the pulse of trends as they relate to the look and feel of indie books and bestsellers alike. We’re planning out a few regular blog features, including…

  • Bookstore Features – We’ll be taking monthly trips over to our local Bradley’s Book Outlet and feature a new release or a cover that stands out from the rest (for better or for worse!). We’ll be discussing what makes these covers successful (or not successful) and what indie authors can take away from the sorts of books we see on the bookshelves every day.
  • “Behind The Cover” – We’ll pick a cover we’ve designed and talk about how it was done!
  • Author Spotlight – Whether it’s a cover reveal or an interview, we’re hoping to shine a light on the very talented authors we work with here at Hynds Studio.

The hardest part about any New Year’s Resolution is keeping it. We’ll be working very hard to deliver interesting, quality content.

One last thing–Hynds Studio now has a mailing list! Scroll down to the bottom of the page to add your e-mail to the mailing list. We’ll be sending out newsletters periodically to give you updates about new projects coming out of the Studio, as well as some really great deals and discounts exclusive to mailing list members.

Up for discussion: What’s YOUR New Years Resolution?
